Gender-Affirming Parenting
Facilitated by The 519’s Glitterbug Program, Thursday, January 7th, 10am-12pm
Gender diversity has existed for thousands of years, however, for many of us it’s something that we’re either hearing about for the first time or would like to learn more about. Join Glitterbug for an interactive workshop that reviews gender-related terminology, gender and child development, and the various ways that gender shows up in our children’s lives. The workshop will provide tangible examples of gender-affirming parenting practices and help you consider ways in which you can demonstrate allyship towards LGBTQ2S communities through your interactions with your child.
The 519’s Glitterbug program celebrates the diversity of sexual orientations, family configurations and gender identities that exist among families. Glitterbug offers affirming programming for LGBTQ2S families and aims to promote queer- and trans-inclusive programming in early childhood and family contexts.
