Supporting Toddler’s Emotions with Respect on Zoom

  • South Riverdale Child-Parent Centre 765 Queen Street East Toronto, Ontario, M4M 1H3 Canada (map)

Maddie Hutchison is a Registered Early Childhood Educator with her Master’s in Early Childhood Studies, and a specialty in children’s rights. Maddie has worked with infant, toddler, preschool and school aged children and is currently a content strategist for HiMama, an early childhood tech company in Toronto. Most recently, Maddie started The Toddler Connection, a program designed to support parents, educators and caregivers in understanding how to use respectful leadership so they can support children in learning how to feel safe and secure in their emotions and relationships. Maddie’s goal is to help caregivers move away from fear and isolation based behavior management techniques, and towards gentle and respectful leadership where children are respected at each stage of life.

In this Zoom webinar Maddie will be discussing how to support toddlers emotions through respect based care. She will dive into the ways in which we may unknowingly be disrespecting our children’s emotions, and the impact this can have on their development. Maddie will then share strategies for how you can reframe your mindset of what your toddler’s tantrum is saying, and how this mindset shift is the first step towards genuinely approaching emotions with respect and understanding. Maddie will leave us with actionable steps for how you can use respect based care to get through challenging moments with your child.

You can register for this workshop by email at info@srcpc.org or in person at the Centre.
